Emergencies - What to Do

In emergency situations contact Magen David Adom (Dial:101) and consult with your doctor.

Below is a list of several important points you should do and know:

  1. Consult your doctor about which types of medications you are prohibited from taking.
  2. Do not stop taking your pulmonary hypertension medications. We have heard of cases where the hospital staff stopped administering pulmonary hypertension drugs (as is "routinely" done), putting the patient’s life and health at severe risk. Regardless of the hospital that you are in, the medical staff must maintain a constant line of communication with your doctor and only act according to that doctors instructions.

Some tips to ease the stress of the situation:

  • In the case of a feeling of severe breathlessness or heavy breathing it is advised to take higher concentrations of oxygen under the supervision of a doctor. The added oxygen will reduce your difficulty breathing and the stress put on the heart.
  • At times it advisable to take a sedative, only under the supervision of a doctor, to alleviate some of your symptoms which may be due to stress negatively affecting the body.
